Admissions

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions for any family. At Mount School, we understand that every learner's journey is unique and we are committed to making the admissions process as supportive, transparent and straightforward as possible.

We welcome referrals for children and young people aged 7–18who have SEMH or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and would benefit from a specialist therapeutic educational environment. Our personalised approach enables us to support learners with a wide range of needs, ensuring that every child receives the education, care and support required to thrive.

Referrals are welcomed from Local Authorities, schools, professionals and, where appropriate, directly from families. Every enquiry is considered individually, allowing us to gain a full understanding of each learner's strengths, aspirations and support needs before determining whether Mount School is the right educational placement.

Following an initial enquiry, we work closely with families, local authorities and other professionals to review available information, including Individual Development Plans (IDPs), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), professional reports and previous educational information. Where appropriate, prospective pupils and their families are invited to visit the school, meet our staff and experience the learning environment before a placement is agreed.

If a placement is offered, a personalised transition programme is developed to ensure every learner settles into school successfully. This may include transition visits, family meetings, information sharing with previous schools and carefully planned induction activities designed to help pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn from their very first day.

Our admissions process is centred around partnership, communication and ensuring that every learner joins Mount School with the right support in place. We are committed to working collaboratively with families, local authorities and external professionals to ensure that every child has the opportunity to flourish.

If you would like to find out more about Mount School, arrange a visit or discuss a potential referral, please contact our admissions team who will be pleased to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
